The Central Africal Monetary Union was formed in the colonial period of it's member countries history as a regional group in the Franc Zone. The members are Cameroon, Congo, Central African Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Tchad. All these countries have one common currency unit - CFA franc. 1 franc equals 100 santimes.
Banknote design was the following until 1990ies: all front sides of the banknotes were different and showed the country of issue, while the reverse was common for all countries. In 1992 all banknotes were replaced by unified design notes, without variations for each member country. Banknote series' prefixes shows the country of the banknotes' origin:

A - Gabon
C- Tchad
E - Equatorial Guinea
M - C. Afr. Republic
T - Congo Republic
U - Cameroun
